For more than twenty years, Dr. Kristin Skow practiced dentistry the way most dentists are taught. She restored teeth. Placed implants. Performed advanced surgery. Taught other dentists. Yet she couldn’t shake the feeling that something was missing. Patients would come in with worn teeth, headaches, fatigue, jaw pain, sleep issues, and chronic health concerns. The traditional dental model focused on treating the symptoms, but often failed to explain why those problems were occurring in the first place.
Then everything changed. While attending advanced continuing education, Dr. Skow was introduced to the connection between breathing, airway development, sleep, and oral health. Suddenly, years of unanswered questions started making sense. In 2021, Dr. Skow completed one-on-one training with Dr. Soroush Zaghi through The Breathe Institute and continues to participate in annual research updates. As an affiliate of The Breathe Institute, she continues to deepen her knowledge of airway health, breathing, sleep, and oral function. Even more importantly, she began recognizing many of those same patterns in her own daughters. What began as professional curiosity became a personal mission. Our mission is to help patients understand those connections and find answers they may not have found elsewhere.
